Welcome!

I am Farah, a violinist and pianist currently based in Singapore. I have been actively teaching Violin, Piano and Theory since 2017 in both Singapore and London, having taught students ranging from ages 3 to 70 in both individual and group settings.

As a versatile violinist, pianist and conductor with experience across diverse musical styles, I believe in a holistic approach to music education - one that extends beyond the instrument itself. Alongside developing strong technical foundations, I aim to nurture each student's lifelong appreciation for music

Having started my own musical journey at the age of four, I recognise that learning music is only one aspect of a child's development. Through my teaching, I strive to foster broader life skills that enrich their lives beyond music, such as critical thinking, confidence, emotional intelligence and body awareness.

Learning Outcomes

Holistic Development

  • Regular Studio Classes and Student Recitals to motivate students and celebrate progress
  • Pedagogical approaches thoughtfully tailored to each student's needs
Having successfully navigated DSA auditions to RGS and university applications to both the UK and US, I am able to guide students through these processes with insight and practical advice.

Music Examinations

  • All Violin and Piano grades for ABRSM and Trinity
  • Violin Diploma levels
  • GCSE/A-level Practical Examinations
  • Theory up to ABRSM Grade 5

Auditions & Competitions

  • DSA Music Elective Programme Audition
  • Conservatoire and University Audition

All students have consistently attained high Merit and Distinction results in their ABRSM examinations. Yet I believe these are simply milestones, by-products of meaningful learning.

I understand the challenge of balancing music with the demands of school. I aim to help students make steady progress while maintaining motivation and healthy practice habits.

Pedagogical Approach

I start every teaching journey by getting to know each student - their interests, goals, and how they learn best - so I can tailor every lesson to support their growth.

For beginners, I believe in nurturing a strong musical foundation: developing an instinctive feel for pitch, rhythm, and sound. No matter the instrument, I encourage students to explore music through listening, singing, and movement. This helps them connect with music on a deeper level and play with greater expression and confidence.

As a versatile musician with experience across a range of disciplines, I believe there is no single way to learn; every musical experience deepens our understanding of music as a whole. Although my own training is primarily Classical, I do not limit students to this genre. Past students have enjoyed learning to notate and play their favourite Anime and Popular songs, many of whom continue exploring such music independently.
