About

Farah Wu is a Singaporean violinist, pianist and conductor known for her versatility and authenticity. She holds a Master of Music degree in Performance & Literature from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Bachelor of Music (Hons) from the Royal College of Music. Before her international studies, she trained under Marietta Ku (violin) and Timothy Ku, Paul Liang, and Alice Yap (piano). She is currently based in Singapore as Co-founder and Faculty at Voyage Music while performing regularly with local groups such as re:Sound Collective, Asian Cultural Symphony Orchestra, and Tarenna Collective.
Farah’s artistry is shaped by her passion for diverse musical styles, commitment to accessibility, and innovative programming. She actively explores contemporary and lesser-known works, having collaborated on projects such as FestivALL (2021) and Metamorphosis (2024). In 2023, she organized Musical Movements, an interdisciplinary concert for children that explored the relationship between music and movement through dance, theatrics, animation, and play. Her musical interests also extend to the Baroque, leading her to study baroque violin with leading experts at the 2024 Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute.

Farah has distinguished herself in competitions, placing Third in Krannert Debut Artist 2025 and Second at Happy Music Festival 2021 (Senior). As an active orchestral musician, Farah is Section First Violinist and Acting Principal Second Violinist with the Champaign-Urbana Symphony Orchestra, and has held leadership roles in the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra.
Beyond performance, Farah is a dedicated educator, teaching violin, piano, and music theory to students of all levels in Singapore and London. She also served as the conductor for Nanyang Primary String Ensemble (Junior) from 2022 to 2023.

Farah continues to push artistic boundaries through performance, education, and creative exploration. Whether premiering contemporary works, delving into historical performance practices, or mentoring young musicians, she is dedicated to making music accessible and engaging for diverse audiences. With a deep passion for storytelling through sound, she strives to inspire and connect with listeners across genres and generations.
